For over 15 years, the Scottish Dental website has become the main source of information about dentistry in Scotland.
The NHS in Scotland commissions a range of dental services from practitioners. New information about practice management, reimbursement information, service configuration comes out all the time, from different sources. It can be hard for time-pressed professionals to find important material.
During COVID, with rapid shutdown and phased remobilisation of services, the need for reliable, up-to-date information became all the more pressing.
We work in partnership with a Clinical Lead and NHS Scotland communications teams to identify new documents as they are published. We also perform regular searches of other important sources such as the General Dental Council.
Documents are collated into our Library, and fed out using our News service.
The website covers guidance, commissioning and reimbursement information, practice management, decontamination and, of course, since March 2020, regularly updated information to help dentists and patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Scottishdental.org has proved so popular with users that NHS Scotland took it in-house in 2021.
“The jewel in the crown.”
