Email newsletters, image galleries, blogs and SEO are now a doddle with Phaedrus 3.3.
The Minervation team have been working around the clock to bring you a new and improved version of Phaedrus. We've been listening to what you say you want on your websites and have added a ton of new features that we know you're going to love using.
- It's now easier to create, send and track email newsletters.
- Image galleries can be added to your site in seconds.
- You can add a blog to your site and start sharing your thoughts with the world.
- Your site will be easier to find on search engines because of the new SEO features we've built in.
- If you're a Facebook or Twitter junkie, you can add these social bookmarking tools to your Phaedrus web pages.
Newsletter
We've streamlined the process to make it easier for you to set up, organise, and send out email newsletters all from within the CMS. You can also produce reports that tell you how your newsletter is getting used; who is opening the emails and who is following the links to your site from the emails.
Current Phaedrus customers will be upgraded at no additional cost. This is all part of our commitment to improve our products by listening to what you say you want.
Image galleries
You can now upload multiple images at the same time into your website and automatically create image galleries that present a slideshow of your images (see www.artinrosehill.org.uk).
Blog
A basic blogging feature allows you to write an online diary that includes a combination of text, images and links. Visitors to your site can add their own comments to your blog.
Since blogs are regularly updated, they tend to rank high on search engine results and therefore improve your website search engine optimisation.
Speaking of which...
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
Back in July 2008 we wrote 'ten top tips for improving search engine optimisation'. In this release we've now incorporated a number of modifications to improve your SEO ranking and visibility.
Pretty URLs
Instead of having your web page URLs as http://www.minervation.com/index.aspx?o=1234 Phaedrus will now automatically produce pretty or search engine friendly URLs, for example: http://www.minervation.com/about-us.
Pretty URL's don't just help improve your SEO; they also look more relevant and professional.
Ability to change the browser title tags.
Browser titles are the main identifier of the content on a page or website. It is now possible to manually configure the browser page titles. These have previously been automatically generated from the page title, but often a more informative and specific title would help improve SEO ranking. It is now possible to specify the browser title separately from the page title.
Example browser title tag Minervation>About Us>Contact Minervation about evidence based websites

Social bookmarking
We've come up with a new feature that allows you to add links to your web pages that users can use to highlight your pages on their favourite social bookmarking service, for example Facebook or Twitter.
Sharing links is another good way of increasing your websites visibility and improving your overall search engine optimisation.
And there's more...
Sell your products and services
The online shop feature has now been upgraded so your site visitors can buy multiple items from your shop using the Paypal shopping basket. You can manage a variety of product items using our stock management feature. Each stock item can have a title, price, description and an image.
Adding a page just got easier
We've now made it easier for you to add pages to your web site. You can now easily edit content and add new pages without having to go into the back-end CMS.
Can I use these new features on my Phaedrus website?
Some of the features described may refer to Phaedrus functions which may only be available on Plus or Premium licenses or are functions which you do not currently use. Just drop us a line if you're uncertain whether you are eligible.
