Oxford, 9th - 12th April, 2001
The workshop is intended to serve as an introduction to evidence-based medicine. It is aimed at clinicians and other health care professionals who wish to gain knowledge of critical appraisal and experience in the practice of evidence-based health care.

Most of the Workshop will be conducted in small groups in which participants will develop their EBM knowledge and skills. Plenary sessions will present and discuss core issues in EBM. Time will be provided each day for searching, study and the establishment of working groups. There will be opportunities to continue and develop working groups during informal social events.
Participants will receive EBM packages in diagnosis, prognosis, therapy/prevention, quality of care, systematic reviews, and economic analysis. They will also receive appropriate background readings, a relevant textbook (such as How to Practice and Teach Evidence-Based Medicine) and software tools to help them practice and teach EBM.
Workshop facilitators have been practising and teaching EBM at sites across the UK, Europe and North America. The Workshop will be chaired by Dr Martin Dawes.
